Thoughts

Very happy memories of Roy being part of our family’s story: he came to stay as a BnB lodger with my grandparents Ivy and George Parsons in Salisbury (in 1952) – she used to say that he came on a one-week trial and stayed seven years. He was then part of the family being a firm friend of my granddad George, as well as my father David and uncle Maurice who were teenagers while he was the lodger. He was always Uncle Roy to my generation, and regularly present at family get togethers: indeed, I only found out that he was a family friend rather than direct relative when I was much older. He came to our wedding in 1986 and we have the pottery decanter and mugs that he gave us on display at home still. The Parsons all send their condolences and best wishes. Roy was a much loved “honorary” member of our family and although we didn’t see him very often in recent years, he will be missed. He was always good company and very easy to be with – taking an interest and talking about family, jobs, and life: a really nice gentleman!
